HUGO By Jakeline Arceo
When we went to Flower Man’s house I
was looking forward to seeing all the trash everywhere and how it was capable
of creating an art piece. Once we arrived there, I was a bit disappointed, but
only because I expected the place to be bigger and I thought that we would be
going inside his house. Even though it wasn't what I expected, it was still
really cool to see all the items that he found and incorporated into his house.
Looking closely, there were many toys and clothing items that he used. Probably
things that a little kid left behind or dropped. Which makes me sad that a
little boy/girl lost their favorite toy, maybe even went back to look for it
and ended up not ever finding it. I now know where to look for my lost items.
Flower Man’s house is basically a huge “Lost and Found” place, which I think is
funny. Overall, I enjoyed that trip.
I was excited about going
into the Museum of Art because I have never been there before, however I have heard many good
things about the things there. I noticed
that a lot things near the entrance were Mexican-American inspired, such as Day
of the Dead drawings. They were really cool looking and there was one that
looked like a sketch, which makes it look more realistic compared to other
paintings that were there that used oil paint. I really liked the fact that in
one room, (Korea or something Asian), the wallpaper was the main attraction.
Once you walk into the room, you wonder why there isn't much shown, and the
room looks a bit empty. After watching a very long and boring video about the
making of the wallpaper, I realized that the wallpaper itself is what makes the
room. They made
the flowery design by using gunpowder, and then lighting it on
fire or something. Watching that made me realize how much thought and effort
was put into the wallpaper which made me really appreciate the room much more.
Needless to say, that room was my favorite place out of the whole museum,
because it was so beautiful.
